The allotment gardens that were on both sides of the River Taff can be seen in the foreground as well as the path followed by the old Glamorganshire Canal which would have been disused at the time. Glantaf Infants School is alongside the canal. Behind the school are Raymond Terrace and Meadow Street. Right of centre is the School of Mines and Technology which became the Glamorgan College of Technology in 1958. To the left are the houses which overlooked Llantwit Road.
