The Rhondda Heritage Project

Station 8 - Rhondda's Green Future

Welcome To Our Woods,
Old Brewery site,
Station Street,
Treherbert
CF42 5HU

Before the coming of the mines, early Victorian travellers to the Rhondda were overwhelmed by its sublime beauty. Today, the valley has recovered much of that splendour. New woodland and mountain paths take hikers and cyclists through some of the UK’s most majestic scenery. The Environment (Wales) Act and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act underpin local efforts by groups like Welcome To Our Woods to create safe, resilient places for recreation and tourism. As important is the determination to promote active stewardship of our natural resources, in wind, water and timber, creating sustainable employment for the community’s future.
