    Maggie Hampton

Maggie Hampton was born in 1951 in south west London. She started to lose her hearing after a bad attack of measles when she was 4 years old and is now profoundly deaf. She has worked in the jewellery trade, cleaned houses, been an actor-teacher in Theatre in Education and became a Disability Equality Trainer. She moved to Wales in 1993 and spent 23 happy years working for Disability Arts Cymru, eventually becoming Director of the organisation. Maggie has a Hearing Dog called Sid. She is passionate about animals and the Welsh countryside. A new member of RCT Writers, she is currently developing a collection of poetry about her experiences as a Deaf woman.
